Question:
How do I download and save YouTube videos be able to edit in Windows Movie Maker?
for example: i downloaded a video of youtube and i want to make a fanvid, but in Windows Movie Maker it wont work, it says that it needs a clip or something. i need to know what that is and how to make it work so i can make a fanvideo. Please help!
Answer:
Windows Movie Maker is a basic video creating/editing software included in Microsoft Windows. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie.

Windows Movie Maker just allows users to import different media to mix and edit. When you click “Import Media”, you’ll find the supported video files are in the following formats: *.avi, *.mpg, *.m1v, *.mp2, *.mp2v, *.mpeg, *.mpe, *.mpv2, *.wm, *.wmv, *.asf, *.dvr-ms.
Since generally these videos on YouTube or other online video sharing sites like Metacafe, Veoh, Vimeo are in FLV or MP4 formats, we have to convert YouTube videos to any formats Windows Movie Maker supports, before importing them into Movie Maker.
Many YouTube Video Converters are available on the Internet to help you convert FLV or MP4 to AVI, MPG, MPEG or WMV, etc. My recommendation is Video Download Capture, which combines the feature of downloading videos from YouTube and most online sharing video sites and converting downloaded online videos to other popular video formats for different usages.
